You may register as an eligible citizen regardless of residence, as an individual resident in an eligible state, or as an organisation established in an eligible state.
Individuals
Citizenship or residence can qualify
An individual qualifies if they are a citizen of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, regardless of where they live; or if they reside in one of those eligible states.
UK residence alone does not establish eligibility
A person living only in the United Kingdom must separately qualify through eligible citizenship or eligible residence. Do not select an inaccurate country to make an order pass.
Businesses and organisations
The organisation must be established in an eligible state
Companies, undertakings and other organisations can qualify when established in an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. Use the legal registrant and its accurate establishment address, not an unrelated contact or proxy.
Before ordering
Prepare consistent registrant details
- Legal individual or organisation name.
- Accurate eligible citizenship, residence or establishment country.
- Working postal address, telephone number and email address.
- Access to supporting evidence if EURid requests verification.
- Permission to register on behalf of the named organisation.
After registration
Keep the registrant eligible and reachable
Update the domain contact when details change and respond to registry or registrar verification requests promptly. A registration can be checked during its lifetime; renewal payment does not override an eligibility failure.
Changing circumstances
Contact UKC before eligibility is lost
If the registrant moves, changes citizenship status, restructures or transfers ownership, ask the Domains team how the change affects eligibility before editing the contact. Do not substitute another person informally; registrant changes must reflect the lawful holder.

Tell us whether the registrant is an individual or organisation and the relevant citizenship, residence or establishment country. Do not send passports or identity documents until the Domains team confirms a secure requirement and method.
