“Domain POP mailbox” is the old name
The current service is Custom Domain Email. POP is one method of downloading messages, but modern devices normally use IMAP so that folders and read status stay synchronised.
The service
A complete email address on your domain
A mailbox such as hello@yourdomain.co.uk stores received messages and can send replies from the same address. You can use it in Roundcube webmail, Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and most phone mail applications.
- A private inbox with its own password and storage allowance.
- Authenticated outgoing email from your domain address.
- IMAP access so messages remain available across devices.
- Webmail access when you are away from your usual device.
Choose the right tool
Mailbox, forwarding or hosting?
- Custom Domain Email
- Send, receive and store email in a real mailbox
- Email Forwarding
- Pass incoming messages to an inbox you already use
- Web hosting email
- Mailboxes included with a UKC Plesk hosting subscription and managed in Plesk
Forwarding alone does not create an inbox and normally does not provide an outgoing mail service. Choose a mailbox when you want to send professionally from the domain address.
Getting started
Add a mailbox from Domain Tools
- Open Domains, choose the domain and select Custom Domain Email.
- Select Add mailbox, choose the address and mailbox plan, then complete checkout.
- Allow the mail route to activate, then use the supplied server details to connect your devices.
Your domain needs the correct mail route
The domain's MX records decide where incoming email is delivered. If another provider manages the domain's DNS or mail, review the required records before changing anything so existing email is not interrupted.
