Check the installation location carefully
Installing into a document root that already contains a website can replace or conflict with existing files. Take a backup first, or use a new subdomain or empty directory for testing.
Open your hosting panel
Launch WordPress Toolkit
- Sign in to UKC and open Services.
- Select the hosting service and choose Login to Plesk.
- Open WordPress or WordPress Toolkit.
- Select Install.
Installation settings
Choose the domain and path
- Protocol
- Use HTTPS when a valid certificate is active
- Domain
- Select the website or subdomain to use
- Installation path
- Leave blank for the domain root, or enter a folder such as blog
- Website title
- A clear public name that can be changed later
If the path is wordpress, the site opens at example.com/wordpress. Leave it empty when WordPress should be the main website at example.com.
Administrator account
Create credentials that are not easy to guess
- Use a unique administrator username rather than admin.
- Generate a long password and store it in a password manager.
- Use an email address you actively monitor for security and reset notices.
- Do not reuse your UKC, Plesk, mailbox or database password.
Complete the remaining database and update options, then select Install and wait for Toolkit to finish.
Before publishing
Secure and maintain the new site
- Open the site over HTTPS and confirm the certificate is valid.
- Apply current WordPress, theme and plugin updates.
- Remove unused themes and plugins rather than leaving them disabled.
- Run the WordPress Toolkit security checks.
- Create a Plesk backup before adding substantial content or plugins.
Installer failed or the wrong page appears?
Send us the hosting domain, chosen installation path and exact Plesk error. Do not send the WordPress administrator password.
