Ownership and registrar transfers are different
Changing the legal registrant, moving a service to another UKC account and transferring a domain to another registrar are separate actions. Choose the outcome you need before making a request.

.UK domain ownership
Transfer the legal registrant through Nominet
Nominet provides an Online Services account for .uk registrants. Sign in using the registrant email address and use its option to transfer the domain name to someone else. This changes the legal registrant; it does not automatically move website files, email or a UKC hosting service.

Ask UKC before changing the registrant
For domains such as .com, changing contact information may not by itself complete a legal ownership transfer. Registry and registrar rules vary, and verification or approval emails may be sent to the current and new registrant. Open a Helpdesk ticket from the UKC account that holds the domain so we can confirm the correct process.
Move between UKC accounts
Request a secure account transfer
- The current UKC account holder signs in and opens a Helpdesk ticket.
- List every domain or hosting service that should move.
- Provide the new holder's name and the email address used for their UKC account. If they do not have an account, tell us.
- UKC checks ownership, billing and any linked services before confirming the transfer.
- The new holder accepts any required terms or verification request.
Check what must move together
A domain, hosting plan, mailbox and unpaid invoice can be separate records. Tell us exactly what the new owner should receive. Do not send passwords, card details or identity documents unless the Helpdesk specifically requests them through an approved secure route.
After the transfer
Confirm access and future billing
- The domain or service appears in the new holder's UKC account.
- The correct registrant and account contact details are recorded.
- Future renewal invoices will be prepared for the intended account.
- The website, DNS and email still operate as expected.
