The legal registrant identifies who holds the .UK registration. The domain contact contains the contact details used for the domain. Changing one does not necessarily update the other, and changing your main UKC profile does not update every domain.

Correct the registrant through Nominet
- Sign in to Nominet Online Services using the email address registered against the domain.
- Find the domain and open its registrant and contact sections.
- Select Edit under Registrant.
- Correct the legal name, registrant type, trading name or company number and explain the reason.
- Select Update details. Nominet may request identification and manually approve the change.
A different person or organisation requires a registrant transfer
In Nominet Online Services, select the domain and use Transfer Domain. This changes the legal holder and the new registrant must accept it. Do not treat an ownership transfer as an ordinary contact correction.

Update the domain contact through UKC
- Sign in to the UKC Client Portal and open Domains, then My Domains.
- Select the exact domain and open Contact Information.
- Update the contact name, email address, telephone number and postal address.
- Save the changes and complete any confirmation or verification message that follows.
- Reopen the domain and confirm the new information was stored.
Use an accessible email address that does not depend on the domain itself where practical.
Unsure whether this is a correction or ownership change?
Tell UKC who currently holds the domain, what needs changing and whether a different person or legal organisation will become the holder. Never send a UKC or Nominet password.
