Check the requirements for a .UK domain

Ordinary .uk, .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk registrations are broadly open worldwide. The holder must provide accurate details and comply with Nominet's current rules and terms.

Eligibility

Most people and organisations can register

The common second-level and third-level UK namespaces do not normally require UK citizenship or residence. Availability does not give permission to infringe a trademark, impersonate another party or use the domain unlawfully.

Holder data

Register the domain to its genuine owner

Use the legal person or organisation that should control the domain, with an accessible email and accurate contact details. Avoid listing a web designer or employee as holder unless that is genuinely intended.

Special namespaces

Some .UK endings have extra restrictions

.ltd.uk, .plc.uk and .sch.uk have specific eligibility and naming rules. The former reservation period for matching second-level .uk names ended in 2019 and is no longer part of a new registration.
