Who can register

Meet the territorial requirement throughout registration

Eligible individuals must reside in an EU member state, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. Organisations must have their registered office or principal place of business in one of those territories.

UK applicants

A UK address alone is not enough for a new .FR registration

Since Brexit, ordinary UK residents and UK-only organisations do not satisfy the current territorial rule. A genuine qualifying presence elsewhere may be used only when it belongs to the actual holder.

Holder checks

Be ready to confirm the registration data

AFNIC may ask the registrar for identity, company or address evidence. Keep the holder name, address, phone and email current. Failure to substantiate eligibility or correct inaccurate data can lead to suspension, blocking and deletion.
