Domain naming

How much do domain keywords matter for SEO?

Very little on their own. A useful word can help a person understand your business, but Google says keywords in a domain or URL have hardly any ranking effect beyond their appearance in breadcrumbs.

Small ranking effectNo shortcut to visibility.

Human clarityA descriptive word can still help.

Brand firstChoose a name people remember.

Visitors

Use descriptive words when they improve trust

A service, location or category word can explain an unfamiliar brand. Keep it concise and natural. Avoid strings of terms, awkward hyphens or a name that limits future products and locations.

Better test

Choose the name that works beyond search

Say it aloud, type it as an email address and check spelling, trademarks and social use. Then describe the business accurately in page titles, headings and content rather than trying to place every phrase in the domain.
