Set up UKC email in Apple Mail

Before setup

Test the mailbox in Roundcube

Sign in to webmail with the complete email address and send one external message. If webmail cannot sign in, fix the mailbox password or service first; repeatedly changing Apple Mail will not resolve a server-side problem.

Mail on Mac

Add the account

1. Open Mail and choose Mail > Add Account.
2. Select Other Mail Account.
3. Enter the sender name, complete email address and mailbox password.
4. If automatic discovery fails, continue to manual setup.
5. Select IMAP and enter the assigned UKC hostname for both incoming and outgoing servers.
6. Use the complete email address as the username for both services.
7. Finish setup, then send and receive an external test.

If Mail hides automatic settings, open Mail > Settings > Accounts > Server Settings and disable automatic management only while entering the provider settings.

Common problems

Match the symptom to the setting

Password keeps returning

Verify the password in Roundcube and check the full email username.

Certificate warning

Use the assigned UKC hostname for incoming and outgoing mail.

Receives but cannot send

Check SMTP authentication, port 465 and SSL / TLS.

Old password persists

Update both incoming and outgoing server credentials; macOS may store them separately.
