Use your assigned UKC server hostname
Use a hostname such as ukc12.uk, as shown for your hosting service or by UKC support. Do not use a raw IP address or guess mail.your-domain; the assigned hostname matches the server certificate.
Before adding the account
Confirm the mailbox works in webmail
- Sign in to Roundcube with the complete email address.
- Send and receive one external test.
- Know the assigned UKC server hostname and mailbox password.
- Update Thunderbird before adding the account.
Thunderbird
Add the existing mailbox
- Open Thunderbird, select the application menu, then New Account and Existing Email.
- Enter the sender name, complete email address and mailbox password.
- Select Continue and review the discovered settings.
- Choose IMAP so messages and folders remain synchronised across devices.
- If discovery is wrong, select Manual configuration and enter the secure settings below.
- Select Done, then send and receive an external test.

SMTP authentication is required. Use the complete email address and mailbox password.
If setup fails
Read the part of the connection that failed
- Certificate warning
- Replace the server name with the assigned UKC hostname.
- Authentication failed
- Retype the full address and verify the password in Roundcube.
- Receives but cannot send
- Review SMTP port, encryption and authentication.
- Timeout
- Check the hostname and try a different trusted network.
Thunderbird still will not connect?
Send us the mailbox address, assigned UKC server, incoming and outgoing ports, encryption choices, Thunderbird version and exact error. Never send the password.
