Legacy email software

Outlook Express is no longer supported

Keep your mailbox and messages, but move them to a supported mail application or use Roundcube webmail before the old software causes a security or connection problem.

Do not weaken mail security to keep Outlook Express connected

Outlook Express belongs to obsolete versions of Windows and no longer receives security updates. Older installations may not support the encrypted connections required by current UKC mail servers.

Choose a supported way to read your email

Protect messages stored on the old computer

  1. Check whether Outlook Express uses POP3 or IMAP.
  2. If it uses POP3, assume some messages may exist only on that computer.
  3. Back up the Outlook Express message store and address book before removing anything.
  4. Install the supported replacement and add the mailbox before attempting an import.
  5. Keep the backup until folders, sent mail and contacts have been checked.

Use encrypted, authenticated connections
