How to order an SSL certificate

Choose the certificate that matches where your website is served, order it for the correct domain and confirm HTTPS works after installation.

Order for the server that receives website traffic

An SSL certificate must be installed where the domain's website is served. If the domain points to Wix, Shopify or another external provider, that provider must supply or install the certificate.

Which certificate do you need?

Website hosted on UKC Plesk
Order a Domain SSL certificate for one website, or a Wildcard SSL certificate when multiple subdomains need protection.
Instant Website Builder or Web Forwarding
Order Parked Domain SSL so HTTPS reaches the UKC parking platform before the page or redirect is served.
Website hosted elsewhere
Use the certificate service offered by the current website host. A certificate installed at UKC cannot protect traffic that goes elsewhere.

Select the product that matches your website

  • Domain SSL - one hosted domain and its normal www address.
  • Wildcard SSL - a domain and multiple first-level subdomains.
  • Parked Domain SSL - UKC Website Builder or Web Forwarding on a parked domain.

Enter the exact domain to secure. If UKC is installing the certificate, ensure the website already resolves to the relevant UKC hosting or parking server.

Confirm the secure website is complete

  1. Open both the main domain and its www address using HTTPS.
  2. Confirm the browser shows a trusted connection without a certificate-name warning.
  3. Check images, stylesheets and scripts for mixed-content warnings.
  4. Only then enable a permanent HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect.
  5. Check renewal arrangements before the certificate expires.

UKC-hosted websites may also use Plesk SSL It!

Plesk can issue and automatically renew a free Let's Encrypt certificate when the domain resolves to the hosting server. Open Websites & Domains > SSL/TLS Certificates to check the options available on your plan.

Unsure which route your domain uses?

Open the domain's Overview or Diagnostics page in the Client Area. If you still need help, send us the domain name and the certificate product you are considering before ordering.
