Traffic planning
Bandwidth use grows with the amount of data each visit transfers and the number of visits received. Measure the real pattern, optimise heavy content and allow for campaigns or automated traffic rather than guessing from one quiet month.
Size times visitsEstimate transfer demand.
Optimise assetsSmaller pages load faster.
Watch trendsPlan for peaks and growth.
Simple estimate
A page that transfers 2 MB and receives 10,000 complete views represents roughly 20 GB before downloads, repeated assets, bots and other pages are considered. Browser caching can reduce repeat transfer.
Reduce waste
Compress modern image formats, remove unused scripts and avoid serving large video files directly from ordinary shared hosting. A content delivery or streaming service can be more appropriate for heavy global media.
Growth
Use hosting statistics to compare normal demand with peaks. Sudden bot traffic can consume transfer without representing customers, while a successful launch may require more capacity even when the site itself has not changed.
