Hosting resources
Hosting bandwidth usually means the quantity of data transferred between your site and its visitors. Page size, traffic, downloads and automated requests all contribute to usage.
Data transferredPages, images and downloads.
Traffic multiplies itMore visits use more data.
Not the same as speedMany factors affect loading.
Estimate usage
A 2MB page viewed 10,000 times can transfer roughly 20GB before bots, repeat assets, uploads and downloads are considered. Video and large downloadable files increase usage quickly.
Performance
Bandwidth quotas measure volume. Loading speed also depends on image optimisation, caching, code, database performance, latency and the visitor's connection.
Manage demand
Compress images, avoid serving video directly from shared hosting, enable caching and check logs for abusive traffic. Contact support before a campaign or download launch if expected demand changes substantially.
